Lokoja ,Kogi— Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has described the death of elder statesman,Alhaji Bamanga Mohammed Tukur, as a monumental loss to Nigeria.
Tukur, a former Governor of old Gongola State, former Minister of Industries, and ex-National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, passed away after decades of service to the nation.
In a condolence message issued on Thursday, Governor Ododo said Nigeria will greatly miss the wisdom and experience of leaders like Tukur who helped to shape the country’s political and economic foundation.
“Alhaji Bamanga Tukur’s demise is a great loss to our nation, especially at this time when Nigeria still needs the guidance of patriots who dedicated their lives to public service and national development,” the Governor stated.
Governor Ododo recalled that the late Tukur served Nigeria in multiple capacities and distinguished himself in *public service, business, and politics*.
“As Governor of old Gongola State and later as Minister of Industries, he left footprints of commitment to nation-building. In business, he was a trailblazer, and in politics, he provided leadership at the highest level,” Ododo said.
He noted that Tukur belonged to the generation of leaders whose sacrifices laid the groundwork for Nigeria’s democratic journey.
“His name will remain in the history books of this country. He was a bridge-builder, a patriot, and an icon of public service whose contributions cut across party lines,” the Governor added.
Investigator news reports that on behalf of the government and people of Kogi State, Governor Ododo extended heartfelt condolences to the Tukur family, the government and people of Adamawa State, and all Nigerians mourning the elder statesman.
He prayed to almighty allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and grant his family the strength to bear the loss.
“Nigeria has lost a patriotic statesman. May Allah repose his soul and reward his service to the nation,” Ododo prayed.
