Ikeja, Lagos –The revenue mobilisation and compliance exercise of Ikeja Local Government entered its fourth day on Friday, with the Executive Chairman, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), leading his team in direct engagements with business owners in *Computer Village.
The day’s activities wrapped up on Adepele Street, where the Chairman and the revenue team verified payments, clarified outstanding obligations, and sensitised traders on current revenue assessments.
Business owners were also reminded of the need to demand and obtain official receipts for all payments made to the council.
The week-long exercise has so far recorded encouraging compliance, with many businesses responding positively to the council’s mobilisation and education efforts.
Speaking during the engagement, AKOD urged businesses still using old revenue bills to obtain updated assessments and fulfil their statutory obligations.
“Improved revenue compliance directly translates to better infrastructure, cleaner environment, improved healthcare and more development projects for the people of Ikeja,” the Chairman said.
“We are not here to harass anyone. We are here to partner with you, educate you, and ensure that everyone contributes their quota to the growth of Ikeja.”
Following the conclusion on Adepele Street, the revenue team immediately moved to Otigba Street, where the mobilisation and compliance exercise will continue in full force.
The Chairman reiterated that the drive will be sustained across all commercial hubs in Ikeja until maximum compliance is achieved.
