Members of the Kogi Progressive Youth Movement have praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for endorsing the re-election of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo,describing the move as proof that the All Progressives Congress, APC is committed to rewarding performance.
In a statement released on Saturday and signed by the group’s leader, Hon. Obasun Samuel, the youths said the President’s backing aligns with his earlier promise that performing first-term governors would enjoy the “right of first refusal” for a second term on the APC platform.
Obasun said Governor Ododo has become a strong partner in the delivery of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda at the state level.
“While Mr. President is busy rebuilding Nigeria, he has a reliable ally in Kogi in Governor Ododo. The governor has keyed into the Renewed Hope vision and is turning it into real projects that people can see and feel,” he stated.
He listed some of the visible projects to include the ongoing Kogi International Airport, the Ultra-Modern Market,massive investments in healthcare, roads, and other critical infrastructure across the 21 LGAs.
“The results are there. From rural roads to hospitals, from youth empowerment to market development, Governor Ododo has demonstrated the capacity and focus needed to consolidate on the gains of his administration,” Obasun added.
The youth group said the President’s endorsement sends a clear message that the APC values results over politics.
“Governors are the leaders of the party in their states. When they deliver, they deserve the chance to continue. That is what Mr. President has done with Governor Ododo,” Obasun noted.
He explained that the policy will also help first-term governors concentrate on governance instead of being distracted by internal party contests.
“President Tinubu has shown capacity, consistency and political maturity. This is leadership that strengthens the party and promotes stability,” he said.
Obasun described the partnership between Tinubu and Ododo as already yielding dividends for Kogi people.
“President Tinubu has both technocratic knowledge and deep political experience. Governor Ododo is domesticating that vision in Kogi. That is why we say: Jagaban is OK for Nigeria, Ododo is OK for Kogi,” he declared.
He concluded that with the President’s massive support, “the message is clear: the APC is united, the direction is clear, and the work of delivering more development to Kogi people will continue.”
Investigator news reports that the Kogi Progressive Youth Movement has urge party members and residents of the state to rally behind the governor to ensure continuity and more democratic dividends.
