Ejigbo, Lagos —As the world marks the International Day of the Girl Child, the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area,Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT), has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting, empowering and investing in the future of every girl child in Ejigbo.
In his goodwill message to commemorate the day themed,”End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights”, the council boss described the theme as a powerful call to action that must resonate beyond symbolism.
According to him, the day serves as a timely reminder that every girl deserves dignity, safety, quality education, equal opportunity and the freedom to pursue her dreams without fear, discrimination or cultural limitation.
“When we invest in a girl, we invest in a nation. Educating, protecting and empowering the girl child is not charity; it is the smartest investment we can make for stronger families, more prosperous communities and a brighter future for generations to come,” Aare Taiwo stated.
He stressed that child marriage remains a major threat to the rights, health and aspirations of girls and must be collectively condemned and ended through sustained advocacy, education and community engagement.
The Chairman assured residents that Ejigbo LCDA will continue to champion policies and programmes that promote girl-child education, welfare, safety and leadership development, ensuring that no girl is left behind.
“Our administration remains resolutely committed to creating an environment where every girl in Ejigbo can learn, grow, lead and fulfil her God-given potential. We will continue to protect her rights and amplify her voice,” he added.
He congratulated all girls in Ejigbo and across the world, urging parents, teachers, traditional leaders and stakeholders to join hands in building a society where girls are valued, protected and empowered to become leaders and change-makers.
