Agbara,Ogun State—It was a day of joy, hope and renewed dreams for over 500 pupils and students as the Rotary Club of Agbara, in collaboration with the District 9111 Interact Representatives, executed a massive Back-To-School outreach across three public schools in Agbara and Idanyin on Thursday, September 25, 2026.
Anchored on the theme “Education Builds Brighter Futures”and Rotary International’s mandate to “Create Lasting Impact,”the intervention reached Agbara Community High School (Edu), Idanyin Primary School, and Idanyin Comprehensive High School — three underserved schools where access to basic learning materials remains a major challenge for many families.
Investigator news reports that hundreds of students benefitted from the distribution of essential academic supplies including exercise books, school bags, biros, pencils and other writing materials designed to support them through the new academic session.
Speaking at Agbara Community High School, the President of Rotary Club of Agbara, Rtn. Philip Ebosele PHF, said the project goes beyond charity, it is a strategic investment in the future of Nigeria.
“Education is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and unlocking human potential. We are not just sharing books and pens; we are restoring dignity, easing the burden on struggling parents, and telling every child here that their dreams are valid,” Ebosele said.
He noted that Basic Education and Literacy remains a key focus area for Rotary International, and the Club will continue to champion initiatives that keep children in school and improve learning outcomes.
Also speaking, the District Interact Representative for District 9111, Zainab Ayobami Lawal, described the collaboration as a powerful example of youth-led service.
“When Interactors serve, they inspire. This partnership proves that young people can lead change now, not tomorrow.
It was student-to-student, peer-to-peer — showing that academic excellence, discipline and service can go together. We are not just leaders of tomorrow; we are leading today,” Lawal declared to loud cheers from students.
Speaking with newsmen, the Chairman of the Service Projects Committee, Rotarian Paul Onabanjo, said the outreach was designed to do more than distribute materials.
“What makes this special is not just what we gave, but what we left behind — motivation, mentorship and memory. Our Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors sat with the students, listened to them, shared their own stories and encouraged them to stay disciplined, stay in school and stay focused on their future,” Onabanjo explained.
Investigator news gathered that the project was executed with active support from partner clubs, the Rotaract Club of Agbara Golden, Rotaract Club of Okokomaiko, and Seed of Hope who brought youthful energy, peer mentorship and strong community mobilisation to the outreach.
For many of the students, it was their first time interacting directly with professionals, entrepreneurs and youth leaders who inspired them to dream beyond their current circumstances.
School heads, teachers and community leaders present lauded the Rotary Club of Agbara for the timely and impactful intervention, noting that the materials would significantly boost school attendance, morale and academic performance, especially for indigent pupils as the new term begins.
The atmosphere across the three schools was electric filled with smiles, songs of appreciation, thank-you notes and a renewed determination to learn.
The Rotary Club of Agbara is a proud member of Rotary International District 9111, comprising business and professional leaders committed to humanitarian service, high ethical standards, and the advancement of goodwill and peace in communities.
