As part of its humanitarian gesture, an NGO, Voice of Hope, on Saturday distributed food palliatives to more than 150 vulnerable women in Ejigbo LCDA as part of efforts to support struggling families and uplift disadvantaged members of the community.
Addressing the beneficiaries in Ejigbo LCDA,the Executive Director/Convener of the NGO,Mrs Uchenna Offormata, said the gesture was aimed at extending love and practical assistance to women facing economic hardship, particularly widows, elderly women, and other vulnerable persons in society.
Mrs Offormata said the initiative was part of her routine humanitarian program to ease the current economic hardship, noting that the organisation remains committed to bringing relief, encouragement, and hope to those in need through regular empowerment and welfare programmes.
She also gave an overview of what Voice of Hope stands for, stating that the group is dedicated to compassion, service to humanity, and supporting the less privileged.
Mrs Offormata stressed the importance of caring for one another, especially during challenging times, adding that every act of kindness can make a meaningful difference in the lives of people facing difficulties.
She encouraged the women not to loose hope but urge them to do something for themselves as the government cannot provide everything for them .
The event also featured a spiritual session led by Pastor Eberechukwu ThankGod Egbuche, who delivered a message of admonition on the topic, Hope in Christ.
In his message, Pastor Eberechukwu encouraged the women to remain steadfast in faith despite lifeâs challenges, assuring them that hope in God brings strength, restoration, and peace. He urged participants not to give up in difficult seasons but to trust in divine intervention.
Many of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the organisers, describing the support as timely and impactful amid the current economic realities.
Some of the beneficiaries,who spoke with our correspondent,Mrs Modupe Johnson, and Mrs Rukayat Abdullahi, appreciated the NGO for its humanitarian program to assisting the widows and vulnerable women in the society.
âWe are very grateful to Hon Uchenna Offormata for always alleviating our sufferings and making us happy. May God bless her,â Johnson prayed.
Speaking with newsmen, Pastor Eberechukwu ThankGod Egbuche described the convener as a lady who has the passion of encouraging the down trodden,less privilege, widows and women in the society.
He opined that the Voice of Hope is a platform where encouragement are giving to those who are discouraged and lost hope, noting that God has given her the grace to restore hope to the hopeless and to encourage so many women in the society.
Pastor Egbuche advised Hon Offormata not to be discouraged but remain steadfast “Life is so full of challenges especially when you are out to do good.Note it today that you will face a lot of battles, discouragement, even people around you would discouraged you but inasmuch as it was God who called and gave you this vision, whatever that comes your way as a challenge,see it as a stepping stones to where God is taking you to and the sky will not be your limit but your starting point.” He said.
Items distributed were:rice,garri,satchet of tomatoes,maggi,oil,salt, onions among others.
The outreach programme ended on a joyful note, with prayers and words of appreciation from participants, while organisers pledged to continue reaching out to vulnerable groups across the community.
