The Legislative Arm of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. Azeez Abiodun Kareem Asejere, for what it described as remarkable investments in infrastructure and education following an oversight inspection of major ongoing development projects across the council.
The inspection, led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Awoyemi Audu Sulaimon, formed part of the legislature’s constitutional oversight responsibilities aimed at assessing the quality, pace and compliance of projects being executed with public funds.
Accompanying the House Leader were the Deputy Leader, Hon. Bashiru Olamilekan Safari; Majority Leader, Hon. Salami Akinyele Bashir; Chief Whip, Hon. Mayowa Christiana Afolabi Aso, alongside other Honourable members of the council legislature.
The lawmakers visited the ongoing construction of Kareem Road as well as the newly constructed 12-classroom storey building at Community Nursery and Primary School in Ilemba-Awori. During the inspection, they assessed the standard of work, project specifications and the level of progress to ensure the projects meet the expectations of residents.
Speaking after the inspection, Hon. Awoyemi Audu Sulaimon applauded Chairman Asejere for prioritising projects capable of transforming the socio-economic fortunes of the communities.
According to him, the road project will significantly improve accessibility, ease transportation and stimulate commercial activities, while the modern classroom block will provide pupils with a more conducive learning environment and strengthen the council’s investment in quality education.
“The Executive Chairman has demonstrated genuine commitment to grassroots development through strategic investments in road infrastructure and education.
Kareem Road will improve connectivity within the community, while the new school building will create a better atmosphere for teaching and learning. These are projects that will have lasting benefits for our people,” he said.
Other principal officers of the House also expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work, describing the projects as clear evidence of the administration’s commitment to delivering meaningful dividends of democracy.
The lawmakers described the road and school projects as landmark interventions for Ilemba-Awori and Shibiri-Ekunpa, noting that they address critical needs in transportation and education.
They urged the contractors handling the projects to maintain the highest standards of workmanship and ensure timely completion.
They further reaffirmed the legislature’s commitment to continuous monitoring of all council projects, stressing that regular oversight remains essential to ensuring transparency, accountability and value for public resources.
Residents of Ilemba-Awori who witnessed the inspection expressed appreciation to both the Legislative Arm and the Executive Chairman for the ongoing development initiatives.
They noted that the road project would improve mobility and boost economic activities, while the new school building would provide children with a safer and more conducive environment for learning.
The residents also pledged their continued support for the Asejere administration, expressing confidence that more developmental projects would be delivered to communities across Oto-Awori LCDA as the administration continues to implement its grassroots development agenda.
