Ejigbo, Lagos–The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT), has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and economic development as over 600 beneficiaries of the Council’s four-week Skills Acquisition Programme are set to graduate in a ceremony designed to celebrate innovation, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance.
The graduation ceremony, organised in partnership with the Blessed Gumpat Foundation, marks another milestone in the Council’s drive to equip young people and residents with practical vocational skills capable of improving livelihoods and reducing unemployment.
The event, themed “Celebrating New Skills, Inspiring New Possibilities,” will feature the presentation of certificates to successful participants, practical exhibitions of the skills acquired during the training, and mentorship sessions aimed at helping beneficiaries build sustainable careers and businesses.
During the intensive four-week programme, participants received hands-on training in a wide range of vocational and entrepreneurial fields, including Drone Technology, Adire Fabric Production, Fashion Design, Hairdressing, Barbing, Catering, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Cosmetology, Shoemaking, Bead Making, Leatherworks, Basket Weaving, Entrepreneurship Development, and several other income-generating skills.

To further support the graduates beyond the classroom, representatives of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), Zenith Bank Plc, and First Bank of Nigeria Limited will attend the ceremony to educate participants on business development programmes, financial inclusion, and accessible loan opportunities for eligible entrepreneurs, artisans, traders, and small business owners.
The initiative is expected to provide beneficiaries with the knowledge and resources needed to transform their newly acquired skills into viable businesses, thereby promoting self-employment and contributing to the local economy.
Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo’s administration has continued to prioritise skills development and youth empowerment as key pillars of its governance agenda, investing in programmes that enhance employability, encourage entrepreneurship, and improve the socio-economic wellbeing of residents.
The graduation of more than 600 trainees underscores the Council’s determination to build a skilled and productive workforce while creating pathways for sustainable economic growth across Ejigbo LCDA.
