……Launches School Adoption Drive to Expand Support for Basic Education

Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the welfare and academic performance of public school pupils by joining the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP) for the official launch of the Adopt A School for Snacks 4 Thought – PBAT FEEDS! initiative.
The programme, scheduled to commence on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, is being implemented under the supervision of the National Coordinator, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, through the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA), Federal Ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty Reduction, in collaboration with the Lagos State Government and Conference 57.
In Oto-Awori LCDA, the programme will take place at L.A. Nursery & Primary School 2, Ilogbo-Elegba, one of the selected schools where nutritious snacks will be distributed to public primary school pupils.
The initiative forms part of the first phase of the programme, which is expected to benefit 30,000 pupils across the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.
The official launch will hold at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at Lagos Island East Local Government, while snack distribution will commence simultaneously at the Oto-Awori venue.
Daily feeding of pupils will continue from Wednesday, July 1, through Friday, July 3, beginning at 8:00 a.m., with the overall programme concluding on Friday, July 3, at Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.
A major highlight of the initiative is the unveiling of the PBAT FEEDS Digital Dashboard, a technology-driven platform designed to enhance transparency, accountability and real-time monitoring of the programme.
The platform will also enable corporate organisations, development partners, alumni associations, philanthropists, faith-based organisations, community groups and individuals to adopt schools in Oto-Awori LCDA and contribute directly to improving pupils’ nutrition and educational outcomes.
The Council described the initiative as more than a school feeding programme, noting that it represents a collective commitment to ensuring that no child is deprived of quality learning because of hunger.
With the theme “Food Security Meets National Security,” the programme underscores the importance of child nutrition as a critical foundation for educational excellence, human capital development and national progress.
