Youths across Ojo Federal Constituency have thrown their weight behind the emergence of Hon. Princess Damilola Sonayon James (DSJ) as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Governorship candidate, describing her nomination as a major source of inspiration for young people and women aspiring to leadership positions.

The endorsement came during a grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation programme held at Shibiri Ekunpa in Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), where party stakeholders, youth groups, community leaders, market representatives and students gathered to galvanise support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

Leading the mobilisation effort was the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Wealth Creation and Employment, Ambassador Comrade Tijani Saheed Oluwadare (Seedorf), who described DSJ’s emergence as a significant milestone for youth participation and gender inclusion within the party.

According to him, the APC’s decision to nominate a youthful and accomplished female politician as Deputy Governorship candidate demonstrates the party’s commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders and strengthening women’s representation in governance.

He urged young people across Badagry Division and Lagos West to see DSJ’s emergence as a victory for all youths and women, noting that her political journey serves as proof that dedication, competence and grassroots engagement can open doors to higher leadership responsibilities.

“Princess Damilola Sonayon James represents hope, opportunity and inclusion. Her emergence sends a clear message that the APC remains committed to creating pathways for young people and women to actively participate in governance and leadership,” he said.

Seedorf also charged party faithful and supporters to intensify voter mobilisation efforts by engaging first-time voters, newly eligible youths, undecided voters and those who may have become discouraged from participating in the electoral process.

He cautioned against divisive tendencies capable of weakening the party’s chances at the polls, including religious sentiments, caucus politics, ethnic divisions, post-primary election grievances and other forms of internal discord.

Participants at the event unanimously pledged to take the mobilisation campaign to their respective wards, communities and local government areas, expressing confidence that DSJ’s candidacy would inspire greater youth participation in politics and governance.

They further commended the APC leadership for prioritising inclusiveness and creating opportunities for women and young leaders to contribute meaningfully to the development of Lagos State.

Political observers believe the early mobilisation effort signals the APC’s determination to consolidate its support base across Badagry Division and Lagos West, with women and youths expected to play a decisive role in shaping the outcome of the 2027 elections.

The event concluded with renewed calls for unity among party members, increased voter registration and sustained engagement between government and grassroots communities to ensure the continued delivery of democratic dividends across the constituency.
