Aspirants for the Peoples Democratic Party’s House of Assembly in Lagos State have asked the PDP’s National Working Committee to conduct new primaries, just as it did for their House of Representatives counterparts.
Both primaries for House of Representatives and Assembly seats were allegedly bungled on May 22, 2022, according to the candidates.
According to the candidates, the ruling APC in the state has penetrated the party hierarchy.
They confirmed that there will be no primary elections on May 22, 2022, across the state.
House of Assembly candidate for Surulere constituency 2, Oladotun Sodunke; Mainland constituency 1 aspirant, Aduragbemi; and Oshodi constituency, Muyideen, stated in a statement on Sunday.
“Delegates of the PDP were marginalized by those who had only joined the party a few months earlier, in connivance with PDP leaders renowned for working against the party during elections,” the statement said.
“They bulldozed their way through over the state Executive’s objections to the skewed ad hoc list, ensuring that their candidates emerged winners, despite unambiguous protests from all other hopefuls, and no election was held.”

“We appealed with the NWC to intervene before the situation escalated into a serious catastrophe.” For the party’s survival, the PDP Presidential candidate and other statutory entities should bring the committee to order as soon as possible.
“The impromptu list supplied to Lagos was slanted in favor of the governorship candidate implicated in these shady dealings. Because the lists of candidates were created in hotels and private houses of some of the manipulators, INEC and DSS officers who were supposed to oversee the process were refused access.”
