Mopamuro–The Kogi State Government has approved the complete reconstruction of Amuro Community Secondary School in Mopamuro Local Government Area, one of the oldest secondary schools in Kogi West.
The approval was announced on Sunday by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo.
According to Fanwo, the project will be executed under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), a World Bank-supported project being implemented in partnership with the Kogi State Government.
The Commissioner explained that a new Model Secondary School will be built to accommodate both the Junior Secondary School and Senior Secondary School sections.
“Amuro Community Secondary School has existed for over 50 years. Its complete reconstruction will provide a modern learning environment for students and teachers in the community,” Fanwo stated.
He said the intervention is part of the Ododo administration’s broader plan to rebuild aging schools and renovate others across the state.
“AGILE is aimed at improving access to quality education and creating better learning opportunities, especially for girls and adolescents in Kogi State,” he added.
Fanwo noted that the approval aligns with the commitment of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to upgrade educational infrastructure and provide conducive learning environments statewide.
“The administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, remains committed to rebuilding old schools and renovating several others through the State Ministry of Education,” the Commissioner said.
He added that the reconstruction of Amuro Community Secondary School will not only preserve the legacy of the 50-year-old institution but also equip it to meet modern educational standards.
