The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has completed arrangements across the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LG/LCDAs) ahead of its governorship primary election, with Deputy Governor Dr. Kadir Obafemi Hamzat emerging as the consensus choice for the party’s 2027 gubernatorial ticket.

As the political base of the APC and the home state of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Lagos remains a key pillar in the party’s national structure. Since the party’s formation, the state has consistently delivered impressive electoral victories, strengthening its reputation for grassroots mobilisation, internal organisation, and political coordination.

Party leaders confirmed Dr. Hamzat as the sole aspirant for the governorship ticket, a development that has sparked excitement among party faithful and supporters across the state.

The endorsement received a major boost during the Badagry Division Mega Rally held in support of Dr. Hamzat, where APC members openly expressed confidence in his leadership qualities and the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Observers say the development further highlights the unity and stability currently enjoyed within the Lagos APC.

An accomplished engineer and experienced administrator, Dr. Hamzat is widely recognised for his contributions to governance, infrastructure development, economic planning, and public service in Lagos State.

Since becoming Deputy Governor, he has maintained a close working relationship with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, helping to drive the administration’s policies and programmes across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, technology, infrastructure, and community development.

Known for his grassroots engagement, Dr. Hamzat has continued to maintain strong ties with communities across the state while supporting initiatives aimed at improving residents’ welfare and strengthening public institutions.

With preparations for the primary election now concluded, the Lagos APC says it remains committed to preserving its legacy of leadership, unity, and development as it positions itself for another electoral contest in 2027.
