The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA)Aare Tahoeed Adebayo Taiwo has reaffirmed its commitment to improved governance, environmental sustainability, and grassroots development as he rolled out major initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency within the council.

This followed the reintroduction of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise by the Lagos State Government, which the Chairman have welcomed as a step toward promoting cleaner communities and improving public health outcomes.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday 21, April 2026,at the council secretariat,Aare Taiwo described the development as a progressive initiative capable of enhancing environmental hygiene and safeguarding public health.
According to Taiwo, the stakeholders’ meeting was organized as part of efforts by the council to engage residents, promote accountability, and strengthen civic collaboration toward sustainable development.

He further noted that his administration’s policies align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the THEMES+ development framework of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, ensuring that residents of Ejigbo benefit from both federal and state development initiatives.
“At the local level, this vision is operationalized through our development blueprint –the SHIELD governance agenda. The SHIELD agenda is our structured framework for delivering people centered governance, sustainable infrastructure and inclusive economic growth across Ejigbo LCDA”he said
The Chairman went further to emphasized that environmental cleanliness is a collective responsibility involving residents, traders, religious institutions, and community leaders.
He also highlighted the distribution of sanitation tools and operational equipment as part of the council’s commitment to maintaining a healthier and cleaner environment.
“In line with directive of the Lagos State Government,the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise is now fully institutionalized and mandatory as environmental sanitation remains a civic responsibility of all residents, markets and institutions.”Aare stated.

It will be recalled that the state government recently announced that the sanitation exercise will hold monthly from the end of April between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., without restricting human and vehicular movement, encouraging voluntary participation across communities.
Aare TAT used the occasion to highlight some of the achievements recorded by his administration in various key sectors including education and social development,road infrastructure development,youth empowerment, digital economy initiatives, public health interventions, installation of solar street lightning and health infrastructure.
” This administration continues to prioritize health care delivery through targeted interventions including public sensitization programs such as the world tuberculosis awareness walk, provided free medical consultations , health screening, maternal and health care services,eye care services”

” We have strengthened education through distribution of learning materials across schools, rehabilitation of water and sanitation facilities, improve school perimeter security, welfare support for school administrators, enhanced learning environment support system, ongoing construction of modern nursery and primary school , completed roads, completed and ongoing solar street lightning,ongoing construction of comprehensive primary health center at Ailegun and OkeAfa ward and development of Oke Afa international market.”he submitted.
In another major development, the Executive Chairman further demonstrated his commitment to strengthening governance by presenting brand-new vehicles to all councilors, the Vice Chairman, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ejigbo Police Division.

The gesture, stakeholders described as unprecedented, is aimed at enhancing mobility, improving supervision across wards, and enabling officials to respond promptly to community needs.
Taiwo noted that empowering council officials with adequate operational tools would improve efficiency, strengthen grassroots governance, and enhance service delivery to residents.
“This is a practical governance intervention designed to remove bottlenecks, close logistical gaps and ensure that service delivery is not slowed down by limitations of movement or coordination. These vehicles are therefore deployed to achieve one clear objective;a more responsive,more.mobile and more effective Ejigbo LCDA structure”Aare opined.

In addition, the Chairman officially handed over a new bus to the revenue unit to improve logistics and strengthen revenue generation efforts. The move is expected to boost internally generated revenue and support ongoing development projects across the council.
Council officials explained that improved revenue operations would enable the administration to sustain infrastructure development and expand social intervention programs.

Earlier, the Council Manager, Pastor Olusegun Ajanguna in his welcome address, said that the essence of the stakeholders meeting was to deliberate and produce policy and intensify environmental sanitation reforms and strengthen more waste management system across the LCDA.
Speaking with newsmen after the event,the Vice Chairman,Mrs Abimbola Nicholas-Ike expressed gratitude to the Executive Chairman,one whom she described as a very proactive, workaholic and always respond to the needs of the people.

” I want to thank him on behalf of all the Councilors and promised him that we will use the car judiciously,apart from boosting the morale of everybody including those who are yet to receive will help us to move faster and do our job effectively,so we say a big thank you to him and may God almighty continue to grant him the grace to lead Ejigbo LCDA to its rightful position in Lagos State.”Stakeholders and leaders noted that the initiatives reflect the “TAT Idera Oluwa De” progressive agenda, which continues to prioritize effective governance, improved service delivery, and sustainable development.
The Lawmaker representing Oshodi Isolo Constituency 2 at the State House of Assembly,Hon Ladi Ajomale said” It is not a surprise because we knew the kind of development he was bringing into Ejigbo and today he has not disappointed the people of Ejigbo and the party at large,we are proud of him because he has surpassed.the expectations, looking at the infrastructure already put in place in terms of education, health sector, construction of roads, solar lightening of streets and today presentation of vehicles to the Councilors”

Ajomale who is the House committee chairman on Judiciary urge the chairman to continually keep up the good work he has been doing as the ” reward for good work is more work”.

The former Council Chairman,Hon Monsurudeen Bello in his words” I am proud of him and everyone has seen that he has surpass and compliment all of our efforts even beyond our expectations,so I want to congratulate him and pray for God to give him more wisdom and understanding ”

The event attracted prominent political leaders, traditional rulers, and stakeholders, including Hon Henry Ajomale, former Ejigbo party chairman Alhaji F.A. Kasumu, and current Ejigbo Party Chairman Hon. Ismail Omoniyi.
Other dignitaries present included Hon. Colonel Fagbenro, Hon. Remi Gbadegesin, Former Council Chairman,Hon. Monsurudeen Oloyede Obe,Hon. Otunba Stephen Ogun-Dipe(Member representing Oshodi Isolo Constituency 1),Hon. Laidi Ajomale(Member representing Oshodi Isolo Constituency 2), and Hon. Mureni Destroys.l
Traditional rulers present included the Oba of Ejigbo Kingdom, Oba Morufudeen Ojoola Adisa, Oba Isolo Faronbi Shekoni, and Oba Shakiru Elewu.
Residents who witnessed the event commended the Chairman for empowering officials, strengthening environmental sanitation, and improving operational capacity across Ejigbo LCDA.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of environmental sanitation equipment by the Executive Chairman.
