The immediate past Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Monsuru Oloyede-Bello, popularly known as OBE, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II seat after recording a resounding landslide victory in the keenly contested exercise held on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Oloyede-Bello secured an overwhelming 8,252 votes to defeat several notable political figures and aspirants, including former commissioners Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan and Hon. Ganiyu Johnson, alongside other contenders such as Dr. Rasheed Alausa, Kayode Ademiluyi, Segun Tomori, Dickson Okpara, Angela Olayinka, and Isaac Nnaji.
The outcome of the election further cemented OBE’s growing political influence within Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II and reaffirmed his strong grassroots acceptance among party faithful and residents across the constituency.
Investigator news reports that the APC primary election witnessed a massive turnout across major voting centres in Okota Ward, Ward G, Ward F2, Ward F4, and Ward F5, as party loyalists, youths, women, and community stakeholders trooped out in large numbers to participate in the decisive exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Supporters of the ruling party were seen chanting solidarity songs and waving party flags as they patiently queued to cast their votes in what many political observers described as one of the largest, most peaceful, and well-coordinated APC primary elections held in the constituency in recent years.
The exercise was conducted peacefully under the supervision of trained APC electoral officials, while party stakeholders and accredited observers monitored proceedings to ensure transparency, fairness, and orderliness throughout the voting process.
Security personnel including members of the Lagos State Security Neighborhood Watch were strategically deployed across the voting centres to maintain peace and guarantee a hitch-free exercise, as voters carried out their civic responsibilities without intimidation or disruption.
At the conclusion of the exercise, former lawmaker Hon. Ganiyu Johnson came second with 1,152 votes, while former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, polled 838 votes to finish third.
Other aspirants recorded lower figures, with Isaac Nnaji polling 500 votes, Angela Olayinka securing 77 votes, Dickson Okpara recording 36 votes, Dr. Rasheed Alausa polling 29 votes, while Kayode Ademiluyi secured four votes.
Moments after the official declaration of results, jubilation erupted across several parts of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II as hundreds of supporters celebrated OBE’s victory with songs, dancing, and chants of solidarity.
Many party members described the victory as a reward for OBE’s years of political consistency, loyalty to the APC, and his performance during his tenure as Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA.
Political analysts also noted that the wide margin recorded in the primary election reflected not only OBE’s popularity within the APC structure but also the confidence many residents have in his leadership capacity and accessibility at the grassroots level.
In his acceptance message shortly after the announcement of the results, Oloyede-Bello expressed profound appreciation to party leaders, faithful, supporters, community leaders, youths, women, elders, and residents for their unwavering support throughout the primary process.
“To all politicians, party faithful, community leaders, supporters, youths, women, elders, friends, and every lover of progress across Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, I say a heartfelt thank you,” he said.
According to him, the victory was not for one individual alone but for everyone who believed in the collective vision for the constituency and contributed toward the success of the aspiration.
“This victory is not for one man alone; it is a collective triumph for every individual who believed in our shared vision, stood firmly with us, prayed for us, mobilized support, and worked tirelessly for the success of our great party and our aspiration,” OBE stated.
He further described the outcome of the primary as proof that unity, determination, and genuine love for the people remain powerful tools in achieving political success.
“Today’s achievement has once again proven that when people unite with sincerity, determination, and love for the community, victory becomes inevitable,” he added.
The APC candidate emphasized that the victory belonged to the entire APC family and the people of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, stressing that the mandate would be used to advance development, quality representation, and inclusive governance.
“This is a victory for all of us — a victory for the entire APC family, a victory for the good people of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, and a victory for the future we all desire,” he declared.
Oloyede-Bello also called on party members and supporters to remain united and peaceful as preparations begin for the next phase of the electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“As we celebrate this milestone, let us continue to remain united, peaceful, and committed to the progress of our constituency. The journey ahead requires collective effort, cooperation, and continuous support from everyone,” he said.
He assured residents that his emergence would usher in a new era of responsive representation, people-oriented empowerment programmes, youth engagement, and stronger community development initiatives across Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II.
Party stakeholders and residents have continued to react positively to OBE’s emergence, expressing optimism that his candidacy will further strengthen the APC’s chances in the constituency during the forthcoming general election.
Several supporters who spoke after the exercise described OBE as “a tested grassroots mobilizer,” “a bridge builder,” and “a leader with deep connection to the people,” insisting that his overwhelming victory reflected the true mood of APC members across the constituency.
Among dignitaries who witnessed the primary election include the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Aare Tahoeed Adebayo Taiwo,Vice Chairman Hon Mrs Ambibola Nicholas Ike,APC Chairman Hon Omoniyi, Former APC Chairman Hon Kashumu,Leader of the 6th legislative council Hon Shobande Gabriel and other Councilors, Political stakeholders, Supervisory Councilors among others.
