Hon. Leke Abejide, the lawmaker representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election after recording a clean sweep across all 34 wards in the constituency.
The outcome of the direct primary election, held across Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Local Government Areas, reflected overwhelming support for the incumbent lawmaker as APC members turned out in large numbers to participate in the exercise.

Observers described the result as a remarkable political feat and a strong endorsement of Abejide’s performance and grassroots connection within the constituency. Many party faithful also praised the peaceful conduct of the exercise, noting that the process was transparent, orderly and reflective of the will of party members.
Across the three local governments, APC supporters queued patiently to cast their votes in what stakeholders regarded as one of the most credible primary elections conducted in the area in recent times.

Speaking shortly after monitoring the exercise at Takete Ide/Otafun Ward in Mopamuro Local Government Area, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, commended party members for maintaining peace and discipline throughout the process.
According to him, the direct primary election was free, fair and hitch-free across the local government area, adding that party members enthusiastically participated in nominating candidates for the forthcoming general elections.
Fanwo disclosed that Abejide secured 892 votes in the ward while his challenger polled only two votes, describing the result as consistent with the voting pattern witnessed across the 10 wards in Mopamuro Local Government Area.
He applauded APC members for their maturity and peaceful conduct, stressing that the outcome reflected the genuine wishes of the party faithful.

Party leaders and stakeholders in Yagba East also praised the successful conduct of the primary election, describing the massive turnout and peaceful atmosphere as clear evidence of confidence in Abejide’s leadership and representation.
A chieftain of the party in the area, Hon. Emmanuel Obaro, stated that the overwhelming support enjoyed by the lawmaker was a reward for what he described as impactful representation, accessibility and sustained engagement with communities across the constituency.
Stakeholders in Yagba West equally noted that the margin of victory further demonstrated party unity and Abejide’s growing popularity among APC members.
According to party officials, the primary election result went beyond political competition, insisting that the votes reflected the appreciation of constituents for the lawmaker’s performance and close relationship with the grassroots.
Party members and observers who monitored the exercise across different polling centres commended both supporters and electoral officials for ensuring a peaceful process, expressing optimism that the APC would head into the general elections stronger and more united.
With the sweeping victory recorded across all 34 wards, Abejide is expected to fly the APC flag for the Yagba Federal Constituency seat in the forthcoming general elections.
