Lagos— Tributes poured in on Wednesday as political leaders across Lagos State celebrated High Chief Muraino Akanbi Taiwo, a respected member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council, GAC, on the occasion of his 89th Birthday Anniversary.
From Ejigbo to Oshodi-Isolo, leaders described the elder statesman as a pillar of progressive politics, a mentor to generations, and a stabilizing force in the APC.
Hon. Monsuru Oloyede Bello OBE, APC Candidate for Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II, led tributes from the federal constituency, describing Chief Taiwo as a father, mentor and builder of institutions.
“Today is not just about marking another year. It is about celebrating a life of service, sacrifice, and steadfast commitment to the people of Lagos State and to the ideals of progressive politics,” Bello said.
He noted that the GAC member embodies wisdom, loyalty, courage, humility and integrity, and has for decades served as “a voice of reason, a bridge between generations, and a builder of men and institutions.”
“As a respected member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council, your counsel, experience, and institutional memory continue to guide our party, strengthen governance, and give direction to leaders like me,” he added.
Bello prayed for sound health, renewed strength and more years of impactful service for the celebrant.
The APC family in Ejigbo LCDA,under the leadership of Hon. Ismail Omoniyi (IMOLE), also celebrated the elder statesman as their father and political mentor.
In a statement released, the Ejigbo APC Chairman said the party gives “all glory to Almighty God for His grace, mercy, preservation, and the many years of impact and service you have rendered to our party and community.”
“Your wisdom, leadership, guidance, and wealth of experience remain a great source of inspiration to us all. We are grateful for your fatherly role and invaluable contributions to the growth and success of our great party,” the statement read.
The party prayed that “the protection, mercy, and blessings of Olodumare continue to abide with you and your entire family” and wished him many more prosperous years.
Former Commissioner and political leader, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, described High Chief Taiwo as an icon and “father of fathers” whose footprints in progressive politics are indelible.
“From AD, through AC, ACN, to the APC of today, you have been a pillar, a mentor, and a builder. So many leaders of today have benefited from your rich experience, your wise counsel, and your selfless sacrifices for the party and for Lagos,” Bamigbetan stated.
“You did not just make history, you shaped it. You did not just raise a son to lead Ejigbo, you raised generations of leaders across Lagos and beyond,” he said.
He prayed that Almighty God grants the celebrant sound health, clarity of mind, and many more years “to keep guiding us,” adding that “May your name remain written in gold in the annals of our party.”
Also in a separate message,Former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson described High Chief Taiwo as an outstanding elder statesman, respected leader, and distinguished son of Lagos whose years of service, wisdom, and commitment to the progress of the state remain worthy of commendation.
According to Hon. Johnson, reaching the remarkable age of 89 is a testament to God’s grace and a life dedicated to impactful leadership and service to humanity.
He prayed that Almighty God would continue to bless the celebrant with sound health, greater strength, wisdom, peace, and many more fulfilling years.
“On this special occasion of your 89th birthday, I celebrate a leader whose life continues to inspire generations. May your new age bring you renewed strength, excellent health, and abundant joy.
May you continue to enjoy the fruits of your labour and remain a source of wisdom and guidance to our people,” Hon. Johnson stated.
Joining the league of tributes, a former Member Representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency ll in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Jude Chukwuemeka Idimogu congratulated Chief Otunba M.A Taiwo as he marks his Marks another milestone today.
