Abuja Okada riders set fire to houses in protest of the death of a colleague

To avenge the deaths of two colleagues, over 100 motorcyclists attacked Same Global Estate in Abuja’s Lokogoma area.

On Sunday, a motorist is said to have hit two Okada riders and fled into the estate for safety.

The Okada riders allegedly set fire to two of the estate’s buildings.

The motorcyclists attacked the estate, residents told our correspondent, in an attempt to apprehend an unknown motorist.
The motorist was pursued by a large group of motorcyclists after he overtook two of them, according to the witnesses.

Security operatives had arrived on the estate, according to reports, to prevent further property damage.

“Over 100 Hausa bike riders attacked our estate some hours ago,” said the estate manager, Mr. Adebisi Adelowo, who spoke. They set fire to two buildings in an attempt to burn down the estate. They tore down our gate and began throwing stones at people’s homes. We weren’t able to stop them until the police and the army arrived.

“We later found out that they attacked our estate because two of their colleagues were killed by a motorist who fled to our estate for safety after being chased by large stones and other dangerous weapons.

“The motorist, who is not even a resident of our estate, drove into it after seeing a police station in front of it.”
