Ejigbo –The Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Aare Tahoeed Adebayo Taiwo, has called on residents of the council area and Nigerians at large to continue embracing unity, sacrifice, patience and peaceful coexistence as Muslims celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.
Aare TAT made the call during the Eid-el-Kabir prayer session held at the Ejigbo Mini Stadium in Lagos, where Muslim faithful gathered in large numbers to commemorate one of the most significant festivals in Islam.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the prayers, the council chairman congratulated Muslims on the celebration and described Eid-el-Kabir as a season that reflects total obedience to God, selflessness, love for humanity and unwavering faith.
According to him, the spiritual lessons associated with Eid-el-Kabir should inspire Nigerians to strengthen bonds of unity and continue making sacrifices for the peace, progress and development of their communities.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, I felicitate with Muslim faithful and all residents of Ejigbo LCDA on this sacred season of faith and sacrifice,” he stated.
He noted that patience, unity and mutual support remain critical to nation-building, especially at a time when citizens are expected to work together for a better society.
Aare TAT went further to urge residents of Ejigbo to sustain the peaceful atmosphere and communal harmony the council area is known for, stressing that peace remains a major foundation for growth and development.
The council chairman also expressed support for the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying Nigerians should remain optimistic and committed to national progress despite current socio-economic challenges.
“As we embrace the Renewed Hope vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, let us remain hopeful and committed to the growth and progress of our community,” he added.
He prayed for continued peace, stability and prosperity in Ejigbo, Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole, while calling on residents to continue showing love and compassion to one another during and after the festive period.
The Eid prayer was led by Sheikh Alhaji Dr. Mikail Akanni Sanni, the Grand Chief Imam of Ejigbo and a Senior Lecturer in Quranic and Islamic Theological Studies at Lagos State University (LASU).
In his sermon, the Islamic cleric emphasized the importance of sacrifice, obedience, tolerance and total submission to the will of Allah, drawing lessons from the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.
He urged Muslim faithful to uphold righteousness, peace and good conduct in their daily lives, while also praying for the continued unity and stability of Nigeria.
Speaking at the prayer ground, the House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Monsurudeen Bello, also called on Nigerians to continue promoting peace, religious tolerance and unity, noting that the significance of Eid-el-Kabir goes beyond celebration but also teaches compassion, sacrifice and service to humanity.
He urged residents of Ejigbo and Nigerians at large to remain steadfast and supportive of initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people, adding that collective responsibility and harmony among citizens are essential for sustainable development and national progress.
Investigator news reports that the prayer ground witnessed the presence of several prominent personalities, traditional rulers, political figures and community leaders.
Among those in attendance were the Oba of Ejigbo, Oba Moruf Adisa Adekunle, the Ojon of Ejigbo, Hon.Monsurudeen Bello, alongside party chieftains, religious leaders and residents from different parts of the council area.
One of the major highlights of the event was the symbolic slaughtering of the ram performed by the Chief Imam after the prayers, signifying the essence of Eid-el-Kabir and the spirit of sacrifice associated with the celebration.
The atmosphere at the Ejigbo Mini Stadium remained peaceful and festive as residents exchanged greetings, offered prayers and celebrated in unity, reflecting the spirit of love and togetherness that defines Eid-el-Kabir.
