…….As Hon. Olojede Celebrates One Year In Office.

LAGOS — Residents of Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have witnessed a new wave of development as the administration of Executive Chairman, Hon. Rasak Akorede Olojede, marks one year in office with significant achievements across key sectors. 
The Chairman speaking at the event,while reflecting on his first year in office, said his administration has remained committed to people-centred governance anchored on service, accountability and programmes that directly improve the lives of residents.
According to him,a major highlight of the administration’s scorecard is its focus on infrastructure development, with several road projects completed and others ongoing across communities.
Investigator news reports that the projects include the rehabilitation of Assembly Road, construction of the Ibeshe/Imoore Link Bridge, the 78-metre concrete bridge connecting Imoore and Ilashe, solar street lighting projects, reconstruction of roads in Gojere Barracks and Agboju, as well as the completion of Ayinke Timpson Road Phase II and Community Road, Satellite Town.
Olojede stated that beyond physical infrastructure, his administration has also prioritised education through various interventions aimed at supporting students and improving learning conditions.
These include the sponsorship of GCE and UTME forms for indigent students, distribution of free JAMB forms, provision of learning materials to schools, spelling bee competitions and support for educational projects in different communities.
In the healthcare sector, the Olojede-led administration has strengthened access to medical services through ward-to-ward health missions, free medical screenings, immunisation programmes, health insurance enrolment and the provision of equipment to primary healthcare centres.
He said the council also partnered with Satellite Town Eye Hospital for free eye screening and surgery, upgraded the Permanent Agboju Primary Health Care Centre and procured and distributed basic medical equipment to primary healthcare centres.
The administration, he added, had engaged Lagos State Health District V on strengthening healthcare delivery and supported the Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign through advocacy with CDC and NIREC.
The council has also intensified efforts in environmental management and community sanitation through the establishment of the Oriade Cleaner Environment Team (OCET), canal dredging, waste evacuation, removal of overgrown weeds and other initiatives aimed at creating a cleaner and healthier environment.
On social welfare and empowerment, the administration has provided support for traders, elderly citizens, widows, women and vulnerable residents through programmes such as Renewed Hope Trade Grants, food support initiatives, community development funding and empowerment programmes.
The chairman also highlighted efforts in youth development, sports and security, noting that the council has organised grassroots sporting activities, strengthened collaboration with security agencies and engaged community stakeholders to promote peace and safety.Community engagement and recognition
The administration, according to the chairman, also engaged residents and stakeholders through consultations on the Community Circular Road Project covering Ikaare/Irede Island, while participating in cultural, health and community development activities.
Olojede said the council celebrated Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day with pupils and students, attended the 2026 Theatre Day with TAMPAN, Amuwo-Odofin/Oriade Chapter, and participated in World Food Day 2025 and World Tuberculosis Day activities.
He said his administration also engaged CDC and NIREC on Measles-Rubella Vaccination advocacy and celebrated Alahun Osunba Estate Community during the Lagos State Year 2025 Community Day Celebration.
The Council boss noted that as he begins his second year in office,he pledged to sustain the development momentum by completing ongoing projects, expanding welfare programmes, improving healthcare delivery, empowering youths and women, and strengthening participatory governance.
He expressed appreciation to residents, traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, council workers and security agencies for their support, assuring that his administration would continue working towards building an Oriade LCDA where development thrives and residents enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Earlier in a warm welcome address delivered by the Council Manager, Mrs Ayodele Folasayo, who appreciated guests, stakeholders and residents for their presence and support.
She highlighted the importance of unity, collaboration and effective leadership in driving sustainable development at the grassroots level, while appreciating the council manager who he described as “Mr Project “for providing infrastructures that are beneficiary to the residents.
The Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Prince Lanre Sanusi, in his goodwill message, applauded the remarkable achievements recorded by the council chairman within his first year in office, describing the milestones as a reflection of purposeful leadership, commitment and dedication to grassroots development.
Prince Sanusi commended the administration for prioritising projects and programmes that directly impact the lives of residents, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, social welfare, education and community development.
He urged the chairman to remain focused, sustain the momentum and continue to embrace inclusive governance by carrying all stakeholders along in the journey towards greater development.
He advised the council leadership to remain committed to accountability, transparency and people-oriented policies, noting that the true measure of leadership is the positive transformation experienced by the people.
He also encouraged residents and community leaders to continue supporting the administration, stressing that collective partnership is essential for achieving sustainable growth and prosperity.
In her good will message,the immediate past Council Chairman, Hon. Ramota Akinlola Hassan,commended the administration for its commitment to service and urged stakeholders to continue supporting initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents.
“I am very proud of him and I know he can do it, that is why I supported his emergence as the Executive Chairman because I know his capabilities and he will do better”
She noted that continuity, dedication and partnership remain key ingredients for achieving meaningful development, while the beneficiaries of the vehicle to make good use of it as it is for their oversight functions and other political meetings.
Also speaking,a member of the Governing Advisory Council and the Director General of Dr Kadri Hamzat campaign council,Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, praised the leadership and developmental efforts of the council, describing effective grassroots governance as a vital tool for bringing government closer to the people.
He encouraged the administration to remain focused, accountable and committed to delivering more impactful projects for the benefit of the community.
Other people who gave their goodwill messages include royal fathers and other political stakeholders which further reinforced the importance of collective responsibility, as leaders and stakeholders pledged continued support towards achieving greater progress and prosperity for the council area.
The highlight of the anniversary event was the cutting of the anniversary cake,presentation of vehicles by the LCDA chairman to the seven councillors led by Hon Wuraola Salimota Adewale, three traditional rulers, the Community Development Committee (CDC), the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Market Union, with each of the latter groups receiving a bus.
Also,Executive committee members and three management staff benefited from the gesture.
Those in attendance to grace this memorable event include the member representing representing Amuwo Odofin Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,Hon Rauf Age-Sulaiman, Prince Lanre Sanusi Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA,Hon Tasiru Afeez Jimoh(SLG),Hon Azeez Ogunlana(Chief of Staff), Supervisory Councilors, Councilors.
