…….As Zonal Leaders to Discuss Summit, Awards, and South East’s Role in National Politics.

Awka, Anambra— Leaders of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Zone C (South East), will gather in Awka on Thursday, September 10, 2026 for the union’s 2026 Third Quarter Zonal Meeting.
The meeting was announced in a statement signed by the Vice President, NUJ South East, Comrade Ezenwa Adiuku JP. It will bring together chairmen, secretaries and national officers from the five South East states.
According to the statement, deliberations will focus on issues affecting journalists and the media industry in the zone, as well as broader matters of interest to the South East.
A major item on the agenda is the proposed South East NUJ Zonal Summit. The summit is designed to bring journalists, policymakers, professionals and other stakeholders together to examine critical challenges facing the region and proffer practical solutions.
The zonal leadership will also discuss the place of the South East in Nigeria’s geo-politics,with emphasis on the region’s contribution to the country’s political, economic and social development.
The meeting will further review plans to organize an award ceremony to honour distinguished South East indigenes who have made significant contributions in various fields.
The awards, the statement said, are aimed at recognizing individuals whose achievements have positively impacted the region and Nigeria at large.
The Awka meeting is expected to strengthen unity within the union, review activities across the five states, and chart a new direction for both the media and the region.
