Ikeja–The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Thursday carried out his routine environmental inspection and enforcement exercise across major parts of the council, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to environmental sanitation and public safety.

The exercise covered strategic locations including Awolowo Way, Computer Village, Oba Akran, and the Guinness axis.

The inspection forms part of the Chairman’s ongoing effort to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe environment for residents and business operators within Ikeja.

Speaking during the exercise, Chairman AKOD stressed that environmental cleanliness remains critical to public health, safety, and economic development.

He noted that maintaining a hygienic environment is central to the I.K.E.J.A Agenda, particularly the administration’s vision of creating a conducive atmosphere for businesses to flourish while improving residents’ quality of life.
The enforcement team included officials from the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), personnel of the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK), Supervisory Councillors, and staff of the Ikeja Local Government Environmental Department led by the Head of Department, Sanitarian Omotayo, alongside other key officials of Ikeja House.

Residents and business owners who observed the exercise commended the Chairman’s proactive leadership and consistency in promoting environmental sustainability.

They praised his hands-on approach and political will, noting that his administration continues to deliver impactful initiatives across sectors, further positioning Ikeja as one of the most functional and progressive local governments in Nigeria.

Comrade AKOD reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining the environmental enforcement exercise and urged residents, traders, and stakeholders to collaborate with the local government in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
