14 internet fraudsters have been convicted in Enugu by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
They were charged with obtaining by false pretences and cybercrime before Justice I. M. Buba of the Federal High Court of Enugu.
Ogboru Celdric Mundiaga, Madukwu Chidiebere, Diyoke Solomon, John Odedekuma, Abu Taiwo, and Benjamin Nwafor are their real names.

John Kayode, Nwafor Clinton Chetachi, Ezeani Chibueze Paul, and Olisaemeka Goodsuccess Udochukwu are among the other names on the list.

John Kayode, Nwafor Clinton Chetachi, Ezeani Chibueze Paul, and Olisaemeka Goodsuccess Udochukwu are among the other names on the list.
Nwaeze Obinna Bright, James Amazor, Adams Nengi, Nwonye Chukwura Andrew, and Isaac Esievoadje make up the rest of the team.
Using fake Hangout, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Facebook accounts, some people pretended to be different people in order to defraud their victims.
Their actions were in violation of Section 22(2)(b)(i) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, and Other Measures) Act, 2015, and were punishable under Section 22(2)(b) of that Act.

The EFCC brought charges against all 14 people, and they all pleaded guilty.
The convicts were sentenced to a year in prison and a N1 million fine, respectively, by Justice Buba.
The seized devices and other property would be auctioned, with the proceeds going to the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA).
