Breaking: FIB arrests popular broadcaster
Oriyomi Hamzat, a broadcaster and social activist from Oyo State, is said to have been detained by the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) on his way to Abuja.
In the Nigeria Police Force, the FIB is the pinnacle of intelligence collecting (NPF). It is the sole branch of the Force that offers crime and national security intelligence.
It’s unclear why Hamzat, the proprietor of Ibadan’s Agidigbo 88.7 FM, was detained.
According to the report, Hamzat has been a vocal supporter of Timothy Adegoke, a late master’s student at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Hamzat has been on the hunt for Adegoke’s alleged killer since his death in Room 305 at Hilton Hotel and Resorts Ile-Ife in November 2021. (s).
When this reporter called the police station to inquire about why Hamzat was detained, he was told to “come down to the FIB office.”
