Justice Olukayode Ogunjobi, the trial judge, ordered that all construction work in the disputed land, which measures approximately 101.673 hectares, be halted, and that the defence appear before the court and show why it should not grant all of the claimants’ requests.

Justice Ogunjobi’s order came after the claimants filed an ex-parte application with the court on behalf of the claimants against the Lagos State Government, a first generation bank, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, and others.
Alhaji Kassim Lumosa and others are among the claimants.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, the State Land Bureau, the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation Limited, LSDPC, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, Ontario Oil and Gas Limited, and the Suntrust Savings and Loans Limited are the respondents.
Dr Dada Awosika, SAN, who appeared before the court in relation to the claims against the respondents in respect of the property that is part of Madam Iyalode Efunloye Tinubu’s Estate, urged the court to grant the ex-parte application in the interest of justice.
Awosika told the court that his application was backed up by a 51-paragraph affidavit, exhibits, and a written address to show cause why the requests should be granted.

Justice Ogunjobi said in his ruling that the court would grant the ex-parte after considering the depositions in affidavit support where the claimants claimed that the 11 respondents/defendants had concluded arrangements to unjustly and illegally take possession of the disputed land.
