The Lagos State Government established the Anti-Okada Squad on Tuesday to further enforce the state’s clampdown on commercial motorcyclists, as stipulated by the Transport Sector Reform Law (TSRL) of 2018.
Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, the Commissioner for Transportation, revealed this in a statement in Lagos. The anti-Okada squad will work with the police to enforce the ban on highways, major roads, and bridges in the six local government areas.
The newly established Special Anti-Okada Squad will report to the Police, according to the commissioner.
The Commissioner’s Statement
Mr Oladeinde stated that the government was prepared to strengthen the ban on commercial motorcycles in six LGAs and nine LCDAs.

Impounded motorcycles will be crushed in front of the public, he said. Residents were urged to assist the state government in its fight against crime.
“Any nefarious activities of the squad should be reported to the Ministry of Transportation by the public.”

“Such reports will assist the government in gathering feedback on strategies for ensuring the safety of people and property.
“Individuals arrested (i.e. riders and passengers) will be subjected to the full force of the law in accordance with Section 46, sub-sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Transport Sector Reform Law (TSRL), 2018,” Mr Oladeinde stated.

The state government announced a total ban on Okada riders in six local government areas in the state on May 18, 2022.
According to the report, the state government said the state had achieved 85 percent compliance in the previous three days.
