Former Presidential contender and elder statesman Chief Olu Falae has outlined the necessity for a new constitution as the solution to the country’s basic problems.
Falae announced this decision during a live interview on AriseTV on Tuesday.
He went on to say that the paper resulting from the national consensus under former President Goodluck Jonathan’s reign was a solid starting point for creating a new constitution.

“What Nigeria needs is a new constitution that tackles the system’s core flaws; this was addressed at the national convention convened by former President Goodluck Jonathan.” At the conclusion of the day, there was agreement on all matters, with almost 600 resolutions voted unanimously.
“The study may be used as a working document and blueprint for a new constitution.” It is a sheer waste of time to amend the constitution. The present constitution was enforced by the military.
“We are not establishing a viable country with national unity at an all-time low, and challenges will persist until we revert to the political covenant signed before independence, which granted significant autonomy to the provinces.” Powers must be transferred to the state in order to start again,” Falae stated.
In the midst of the country’s instability, the elder statesman also urged for the development of a state police apparatus.
“We pretend to have a central police force protecting a complicated nation like Nigeria, especially in these days of terrorism,” he remarked.

“I firmly support the state police force and the LG police force.” During the colonial time, we had three police units, which were phased out following the Civil War.
“The formation of Amotekun was caused by the collapse of the agreement to create a state police force.” Even colleges have police forces in other countries, and I don’t understand the problem in Nigeria.”
