Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mopamuro Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi State have unanimously endorsed Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide for re-election to the House of Representatives, adopting him as the party’s sole candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced during a Nomination Form Endorsement Ceremony held in Lokoja on Sunday, where party stakeholders from across Mopamuro gathered to affirm their support and present a united front going into the polls.
The event was attended by key APC figures, including the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo; the Executive Chairman of Mopamuro LGA, Hon. Ademola Bello; the Member representing Mopamuro Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Olawumi Jacob; the Mopamuro APC Chairman, Mr. Olajide Adeyemo; State Assistant Organizing Secretary, Arc Aina Lawal; Kogi West Zonal Youth Leader, Hon. Olusegun Arogbonlo; as well as ward chairmen and other party stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the leaders, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo said the decision to adopt Abejide as the sole candidate was based on his track record of performance and commitment to the development of Yagba Federal Constituency.
He noted that Abejide’s ranking status in the House of Representatives positions him to attract greater benefits and opportunities for the constituency.
“Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide has demonstrated capacity, competence, and uncommon dedication to the welfare of our people. His representation has been impactful, and we are confident that another mandate will consolidate the gains already recorded,” Fanwo said.
He highlighted several achievements of the lawmaker, including sponsorship of WAEC and NECO registration fees for thousands of students, empowerment initiatives for women, artisans, and farmers, support for traditional institutions, and execution of key capital projects across Yagba land.
Fanwo added that the unanimous endorsement reflects strong unity within the APC in Mopamuro and a shared determination to sustain effective representation.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Mopamuro LGA, Hon. Ademola Bello, described the development as “the dawn of a new era,” noting that the consensus around Abejide reflects the collective will of the people.
“Our unity today sends a clear message that Mopamuro is determined to move forward together. Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide is the choice of our people, and we are fully behind him,” Bello stated.
The endorsement is seen as a significant boost to Abejide’s re-election bid, as political momentum continues to build across Yagba Federal Constituency in support of his candidacy ahead of the 2027 elections.
