The Lagos Grassroots Alliance (LGA) has officially unveiled its new identity as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and expand political participation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with over 4,000 members, political leaders, community stakeholders and supporters converging on Alausa, Ikeja, for the landmark event.
Held under the theme “2027 Election: Waking the Giant Vote in Lagos,” the unveiling marked a new phase in the Alliance’s mission to build a stronger grassroots political network capable of mobilising voters across the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Lagos State.
The Alliance, which adopted the slogan “One Lagos. Many Voices,” said its renewed identity reflects a commitment to ensuring that every community is represented, every voice is heard and every vote counts in the state’s democratic process.
Speaking at the event, the Convener of the Lagos Grassroots Alliance, Owolabi Jamiu Falana, described the organisation as a people-centred movement committed to strengthening grassroots engagement, promoting inclusiveness and supporting the progressive ideals that have shaped the development of Lagos State.
He said the Alliance would continue to mobilise residents at the community level, encourage active political participation and build a formidable grassroots structure capable of delivering electoral success for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
According to Falana, the organisation’s vision goes beyond electioneering, focusing on sustained community engagement, leadership development and fostering stronger relationships between elected officials and the people.
He urged members to remain united, disciplined and committed to the ideals of service, noting that grassroots mobilisation remains the foundation of every successful democratic movement.
Speaking with newsmen after the event was the Executive Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Dr. Seyi Jakande, who joined other APC leaders to endorse the Alliance’s vision and encourage greater grassroots participation.
Addressing journalists on the sidelines of the event, Dr. Jakande described the Lagos Grassroots Alliance as a timely initiative that would deepen political participation, strengthen unity within the APC and reinforce the relationship between government and residents at the grassroots.
He said the success of every political movement depends on effective mobilisation, consistent engagement and responsive leadership, adding that the Alliance has the capacity to serve as a strategic platform for expanding the party’s support base ahead of the next general election.
The council chairman reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governorship aspiration of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, expressing confidence that both leaders would continue to provide purposeful leadership and sustain the developmental strides recorded at the national and state levels.
Jakande urged members of the Alliance to remain focused on promoting unity, inclusiveness and collective responsibility while working together to strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure across Lagos State.
He also commended the Convener, Owolabi Jamiu Falana, for bringing together what he described as a formidable coalition of progressive-minded Lagosians committed to expanding grassroots political participation and consolidating support for the party.
The event attracted several prominent APC leaders and stakeholders, including the APC Governorship Candidate for Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende (RAK).
Also present were the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, Director of the forthcoming Lagos State Gubernatorial Election Campaign, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, as well as serving and former public office holders, youth leaders, women groups, community influencers and party faithful from across the state.
Participants described the unveiling as a significant step towards consolidating the APC’s grassroots network and broadening citizen participation in the political process. Many expressed optimism that the Alliance’s renewed structure would enhance voter mobilisation and contribute significantly to the party’s performance in the 2027 general elections.
The ceremony concluded with the formal unveiling of the Alliance’s new identity, symbolising a renewed commitment to unity, inclusive governance, community engagement and the shared vision of building a stronger and more prosperous Lagos through active grassroots participation.
