Imo State Thursday 24th, April 2025,joined men and women all over the globe to mark this year’s World Hospitality Day celebration in grand style.

Speaking to journalists, the Honorable Commissioner for Tourism, Hospitality and Culture Imo State, Barr. Jerry Egemba expressed delight, thanking God for the outcome of the occasion.

He said, ” the idea of the international hospitality day is a global event as you have heard, is a day that set apart specifically by the; an organ of the UNITED Nation called International Hospitality Commission (IHC), to draw the attention of the entire world to mapped out the revolve around the hospitality.

“The natures have given you a lot of insight to touch them. The hospitality has to do with how you treat your guest and other people.

” So, international hospitality is drawing attention, is very innate, human quality that must be encouraged. If the world must be a place all of us must plan to live in, each of us must learn how to be hospitable.

“And of course in Imo State, it has come to be a signature tone for us to continue to declare that Imo is hospitality capital of Nigeria, where the hospitality begins and ends”. He stated.

Egemba, disclosed that by nature Imo citizens are very hospitable, pointing out that as Commissioner,a day like this has been set aside for them to remember that good nature that God put in them as humans.

The Commissioner revealed that hospitality did not start today, but as far back as the time of Abraham when he welcomed visitors from heaven and entertained them very well, adding it can be so rewarding when one treat a stranger well.

He commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for giving the state opportunity to joined their counterpart across the globe to celebrate it in Imo for the first time.

Also speaking, Dr. Emeka Mandela, Honorable Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Imo State, expressed happiness to join Hon. Jerry Egemba in celebrating the world hospitality day, adding that Imo State is a renowned for hospitality.

Meanwhile, the event witnessed lecture series, interface session, goodwill messages from various stakeholders, cultural dance, cutting of cake, and group photography.
