Lagos,Nigeria–Distinguished Senator Geraniyuig Olanrewaju Solomon (GOS), member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), apex political leader of Mushin and Odi-Olowo, and Patron of the Mushin/Odi-Olowo Agenda (MOA), has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting grassroots information dissemination and community engagement.
The Senator gave the assurance on Friday during a courtesy visit by the newly inaugurated executive members of MOA at his residence.
The delegation was led by the association’s President, Mr. Abubakar Babatunde Ilyas, while the opening prayer was delivered by Mr. Abdullateef Saka. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Hon. Noah Olaitan Osifeso, formally introduced members of the delegation.
Speaking during the visit, President Ilyas appreciated Senator Solomon for his warm reception and unwavering fatherly support as the association’s Patron.
He disclosed that the new leadership has adopted a more professional approach to communicating government programmes, policies and developmental projects at the grassroots, state and federal levels.
According to him, the association plans to strengthen its presence across digital platforms, including X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and other social media channels, to ensure government activities reach a wider audience.
Ilyas further explained that MOA would expand collaboration with critical stakeholders such as Community Development Committees (CDC), Community Development Associations (CDAs), religious organisations, transport unions, market associations, educational institutions, artisans and traditional rulers to improve public awareness and participation.
He also announced plans to introduce real-time, on-the-spot coverage of government projects and programmes while gathering feedback directly from residents to bridge the communication gap between government and the people.
To effectively implement these initiatives, the MOA President appealed for support in the provision of operational tools and other resources needed to enhance the association’s activities.
Responding, Senator Solomon commended the association’s renewed vision and encouraged members to remain united, stressing that community development should always take precedence over political differences.
He emphasised the need for responsible and credible dissemination of information, noting that accurate reporting of government programmes and projects is essential for strengthening public trust.
“Social media has become a powerful communication tool.
It should be deployed responsibly to showcase the positive impact of government initiatives while countering misinformation with verified facts,” the Senator said.
Senator GOS pledged his continued support for MOA in his capacity as Patron and called on well-meaning individuals and stakeholders to support the association’s mission of promoting effective grassroots communication and civic participation.
The immediate past President of MOA, Hon. Salami Olakunle Muritala, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the Senator for receiving the delegation despite his busy schedule.
