Oto-Awori Chairman Celebrates Historic Emergence Of First Onigbo Elerin, Pledges Strong Development Partnership.

The Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, has congratulated His Royal Majesty, Oba Muh’d Taofeek Adedeji Abdullahi Aina Gbadewolu I, on his historic emergence as the first Onigbo Elerin of Igbo Elerin Kingdom, describing the development as a defining moment that ushers in a new era of unity, peace and accelerated development for the ancient community.

Hon. Abiodun made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the royal palace, where he led a high-powered delegation comprising the Vice Chairman, Hon. Moses Olabisi Aina; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Ajose Ezekiel Tekobo; the Chief of Staff, Mumuni Kabiru; the Leader of the House, Hon. Audu Awoyemi; the Special Duties Supervisor, Hon. Taiwo Hassan Sule; and other council officials.

The delegation was warmly received by the newly enthroned monarch amid jubilant celebrations by residents, political leaders and community stakeholders who gathered to witness the historic visit.

Describing the coronation as a landmark achievement, the Council Chairman said the installation of the first traditional ruler of Igbo Elerin represents the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration of the people and a significant step toward strengthening the community’s cultural heritage and traditional institution.

According to him, the enthronement presents a unique opportunity to foster greater unity among residents while creating an enabling environment for sustainable growth and socio-economic transformation.

Hon. Abiodun commended the kingmakers, elders and all stakeholders for conducting a peaceful and transparent selection process, noting that the harmonious emergence of the monarch reflects the maturity and shared vision of the community.

He also offered prayers for a peaceful, successful and impactful reign for Kabiyesi, expressing confidence that the monarch’s wisdom and leadership would promote harmony, attract investment and enhance the overall wellbeing of the people.

The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with the traditional institution to advance peace, improve security, expand infrastructure and implement people-centred programmes that will uplift the standard of living across Igbo Elerin and other communities within Oto-Awori LCDA.

He stressed that meaningful development can only be achieved through collaboration between government, traditional rulers and the people, urging residents to remain united and give the new monarch their maximum support.

Responding, Oba Gbadewolu I expressed appreciation to the Chairman and members of the Council delegation for the honour and solidarity shown to the kingdom.

He pledged to maintain an open and productive relationship with government while working with community leaders and stakeholders to preserve peace, strengthen unity and attract more developmental projects to Igbo Elerin Kingdom.

The visit ended with goodwill messages from community elders and political leaders, who described the royal ascension as the beginning of a brighter future for Igbo Elerin and expressed optimism that the partnership between the traditional institution and the Oto-Awori LCDA would accelerate development across the kingdom.
