A major political scandal has exploded in Osun State after civil society organisations accused powerful APC figures of allegedly attempting to impose a candidate linked to forged certificates in the Boripe/Ifelodun/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency.
The Centre for Good Governance, Civic Enlightenment and Community Development (CEGCECD) Coalition said it uncovered what it described as a shocking forgery scandal involving nomination documents submitted during the party’s primary election.
According to the coalition, the aspirant, Eniade Francis Olwadamilare, allegedly presented fake educational credentials, including a disputed WAEC certificate, which were reportedly exposed during routine verification checks.
The coalition alleged that despite the findings, top political interests within the APC are making desperate moves to legitimise the candidacy ahead of the polls.
Describing the development as “a betrayal of democratic values,” the coalition announced plans to drag the matter before the court while also launching aggressive public campaigns across social media platforms.
“This is bigger than politics. Nigerians must not allow electoral fraud to become the new normal,” the coalition warned.
CEGCECD also appealed to INEC to refuse recognition of the candidate until the courts determine the legality of the allegations surrounding the certificates.
