IIupeju, Lagos –The Executive Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Dr. Seyi Jakande (JAKO), has received another major endorsement of his administration as the Indian community and members of his cabinet celebrated his first anniversary in office with special honours, goodwill messages, and educational support.
The Indian delegation, led by Ambassador Dr. Kirti Sudhanshu on behalf of the Greater Ilupeju Township Association (GITA), paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman to congratulate him on what they described as an impressive first year marked by impactful governance, grassroots development, and inclusive leadership.
As a symbol of friendship and appreciation, Ambassador Sudhanshu presented Dr. Jakande with gifts and adorned him with a traditional Indian decorative honour, signifying the strong relationship between the Indian community and the Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA.
Speaking during the visit, Ambassador Sudhanshu praised the Chairman’s people-centred style of governance, noting that his administration had delivered visible dividends of democracy and inspired confidence among residents and stakeholders within the council area.
He also unveiled a proposal for a strategic partnership between the LCDA and KOKI (Kirti’s Organisation for Cottage Industry), an initiative dedicated to empowering artisans, promoting cottage industries, and supporting small and medium-scale enterprises through vocational training, skills acquisition, and entrepreneurship development.
According to him, the proposed collaboration would create sustainable economic opportunities for residents, particularly women and youths, while complementing the council’s efforts to promote self-reliance and grassroots economic development.
In a separate show of solidarity, members of Dr. Jakande’s cabinet presented 500 exercise books to commemorate his one year in office.
The educational materials were donated in recognition of the Chairman’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to improving education and investing in the future of children across the LCDA.
The gesture also reflected the administration’s continued emphasis on human capital development and its resolve to ensure that access to quality education remains a key pillar of the HEWA Agenda.
