Ketu, Lagos–The President of the Greater Lagos Initiative (GLI), Prince Adéníyì Olútìmẹhìn-Majesty, has congratulated the newly inaugurated leadership and members of the Lagos State Conference of the 57 Female Councillors, describing the formation of the body as a major milestone in strengthening women’s participation in grassroots governance and democratic leadership.
In a congratulatory message issued shortly after the inauguration, Olútìmẹhìn applauded the emergence of Hon. Mazeedat Giwa as President, Hon. Princess Basirat Banjoko as Vice President, and Hon. Busola Afolabi as Secretary.
He also extended his best wishes to all executive members and councillors who constitute the pioneer leadership of the conference.
He described the inauguration as a timely and progressive development, noting that women have continued to occupy strategic positions in governance while making significant contributions to political stability, community development, and nation-building.
According to the GLI President, the establishment of the conference demonstrates the growing recognition of women’s indispensable role in grassroots administration and the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) commitment to inclusive leadership and democratic participation.
Olútìmẹhìn urged the newly inaugurated executives to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, patriotism, and an unwavering commitment to public service.
He encouraged them to use the platform to strengthen grassroots engagement, promote unity among women leaders, and contribute meaningfully to the implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda across Lagos State.
He expressed confidence that the conference would serve as a formidable platform for advancing the developmental vision of the APC, consolidating the achievements of the Greater Lagos agenda, and mobilising wider grassroots support for Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and other APC candidates in future elections.
While commending the female councillors for breaking new ground, Olútìmẹhìn reminded them that effective leadership extends beyond political accomplishments.
He urged them to maintain a healthy balance between their responsibilities as mothers, family builders, and public office holders, stressing that exemplary leadership rooted in strong family values would continue to inspire greater confidence in women leaders.
The GLI President also called for closer collaboration between the conference and the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Princess Damilola Senayon James, the incoming First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, and other distinguished female leaders across the state.
According to him, such partnerships would expand opportunities for women empowerment, entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, leadership development, and sustainable employment initiatives capable of transforming lives at the grassroots.
Olútìmẹhìn expressed optimism that the Lagos State Conference of the 57 Female Councillors would evolve into a strong and influential platform for promoting inclusive governance, championing women-centred policies, and increasing the participation of women in the socio-economic and political development of Lagos State.
He added that with visionary leadership, unity, and strategic collaboration, the conference has the capacity to become a catalyst for a more prosperous, equitable, and progressive Greater Lagos where women continue to play leading roles in shaping the future of the state.
