…”Ejigbo Must Shine Again” — Aare TAT Vows Zero Tolerance For Waste

Ejigbo, Lagos— The streets of Ejigbo LCDA got a fresh boost on Monday as the Executive Chairman,Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT),deployed a new set of street sweepers and kitted them out with modern sanitation tools and brand new uniforms.
The deployment signals a renewed war against dirt and a push to make Ejigbo one of the cleanest LCDAs in Lagos State.
Speaking during the presentation,Aare TAT said the move was not just about sweeping, but about restoring pride to the community.
“Ejigbo must shine again. We are done with dirty streets, blocked drainages and indiscriminate dumping. These new sweepers are the face of our clean-up revolution,” TAT declared.
He noted that the new team will reinforce existing sanitation workers and extend coverage to major roads, markets and inner streets across Oke-Afa, Shasha, Ajao Estate, Jakande Gate and beyond.
Each sweeper received brooms, waste packs, shovels, reflective jackets and branded uniforms — all designed to improve efficiency and give them dignity on the job.
Aare TAT described the sweepers as “environmental soldiers” who deserve respect and proper equipment.
“For too long, our sweepers worked with bare hands and torn clothes. That ends today. When you give people the right tools, you get better results,” he said.
Vice Chairman,Hon. Mrs. Abimbola Nicholas-Ike, praised the initiative, saying: “This will boost morale and make residents see sanitation work as honorable work.”
Leader of the House,Hon. Gabriel Oluwaseyi Sobande, added: “This is practical governance. People will feel the impact on their streets.”
The intervention aligns with the *Environmental Sustainability pillar* of the administration’s SHIEELD Agenda.
Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Tajudeen Sulaimon, and S.A on Environment,Hon. Adeniyi Abayomi,confirmed that monitoring teams have been activated to ensure daily performance and accountability.
Other officials present included _Hon. Taiwo Idowu Hassan, Hon. Adedoyin Ifatunmise Adefioye, Hon. Bisi Muritala, Hon. Fatai Adio Obe, Hon. Akeem Araokanmi, Hon. Paul Ojedokun, Council Manager Pastor Olusegun Ajagunna, Council Treasurer Alhaji Okeowo Isiaq Adesina, FCA, and Head of Environment Mrs. Temitope Salami.
Traders and community members applauded the deployment.
“We’ve been waiting for this. If they maintain it, Ejigbo will be clean and attractive again,” said a trader at Ile-Epo Market.
The Council also warned against indiscriminate waste disposal, promising continued sensitization and enforcement.
With brooms in hand and new uniforms on, the message from the Aare TAT administration is clear: No more dirt. Ejigbo is cleaning up.
