Late Ibrahim Idris: Family Hails Ododo’s Govt For Taking Over Ex-Governor’s Burial, Pledges Full Cooperation.

The family of late former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has expressed deep appreciation to the Kogi State Government for standing solidly by the family since the passing of the former Governor.

The family also pledged to cooperate fully with the State Government to ensure a befitting burial for the late statesman.

The Head of the Family, Alhaji Haruna Idris, gave the assurance when he received members of the Burial Committee set up by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, led by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, who chairs the committee.

Alhaji Haruna thanked Governor Ododo and the state government for honouring the late former Governor and for taking full responsibility for his burial, describing the gesture as a mark of great respect for the family and for the legacy of the deceased.

He said the family was comforted by the government’s show of love and solidarity in its moment of grief and assured the committee of its readiness to work hand-in-hand with the government for a dignified farewell.

Speaking earlier, the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Burial Committee, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, said the death of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris was a colossal loss to Kogi State.

“It’s a huge loss to the entire state. We’ve lost a colossus and a leader who was loved and respected by all. As a government, we will give him a befitting state burial,” Oyibo said.

He assured the family that the state government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the late former Governor is given a burial worthy of his status and contributions to the state.

After the open session, members of the Burial Committee and representatives of the late Alhaji Ibrahim Idris’ family went into a closed-door meeting where issues relating to the family and burial arrangements were extensively discussed.

Investigator news reports that members of the burial committee on the delegation included the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Ali Bello; Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo; Commissioner for Transportation, Victor Atuluku; Director General of Protocol, Mallam Suleiman Ibrahim; Special Adviser to the Governor, Prince Bashir Abubakar Audu; and other senior government officials.
