LAGOS— The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified efforts to reconcile aggrieved members and rejuvenate its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections, in a move aimed at strengthening the political base of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The initiative was unveiled Tuesday at a special stakeholders’ meeting held at the APC State Secretariat, Acme, Ogba, where party leaders, stakeholders and former aspirants met to address internal divisions and chart a united course.
Presided over by the State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the meeting centered on reconciliation, grassroots mobilisation and organisational renewal as the core of the party’s 2027 strategy.
Leaders emphasized that personal and past political differences must be set aside in the interest of the party’s collective progress.
A key outcome of the gathering was a deliberate push to bring aggrieved members and competing interests back into the party’s mainstream.
Party officials said the process is expected to rebuild trust, strengthen cooperation, and create a more cohesive platform for mobilisation, stating that lagos remains the political stronghold where President Tinubu built his formidable structure.
For the Ojelabi-led APC, consolidating that base requires continuous stakeholder engagement and a united party structure.
The rejuvenation drive is also targeting the grassroots, with renewed emphasis on strengthening polling-unit structures across the state.
In a symbolic gesture, Lagos State Deputy Governor and prominent APC leader, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, formally handed over nomination forms to members appointed as Polling Unit Committee Members.
Party officials said strong and functional polling-unit committees are critical to enhancing grassroots communication, voter engagement, mobilisation and election-day coordination across Lagos.
Investigator news reports that beyond the distribution of forms, the exercise represents a broader effort to reactivate the party’s organisational network and reconnect leadership with communities that form the foundation of its electoral support.
The APC’s strategy is focused on two interconnected goals: healing internal political differences and rebuilding grassroots structures to translate support into electoral strength.
Leaders noted that strengthening Tinubu’s base in Lagos ahead of 2027 requires more than maintaining existing structures.
It demands renewing relationships, accommodating divergent interests, and empowering grassroots actors to keep the party responsive.
The stakeholders’ meeting ended with a strong message of renewal, unity and collective responsibility.
Investigator news gathered that as the countdown to 2027 begins, the Lagos APC says reconciliation at the political level, rejuvenation at the grassroots, and unity across the party will be central to preserving the political foundation associated with President Tinubu and positioning the party for victory.
