Unknown gunmen assassinated Mr. Sunday, a security guard attached to Titolu Venture filling station in Igoba, Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State.
According to reports, the hoodlums set fire to the filling station after killing the security guard.
The incident was said to have sparked widespread panic.
According to the station’s manager, Ajisafe Oluwatobiloba, he was notified about the fire around 4:00 a.m. on Monday and was unable to identify the perpetrators.
“Around 4 a.m., I was called by one of the residents, and when we arrived, we saw the station burning, so we called the fire department, and they came to put out the fire, not knowing the perpetrators had killed our security guard,” he explained.

We saw where the guard was tied and killed while investigating what caused the fire. We also saw the arsonist’s keg filled with petrol, which we assume was used to wet the station before setting it on fire.”
Men from the Nigerian police force were said to have deposited the guard’s body in a mortuary.
When contacted, Mrs. Funmi Odunlami, the state’s police image maker, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation was underway to determine what happened.
