Governor Usman Ododo has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across Kogi State as Muslims celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Adha.
The governor also urged residents of the state to embrace unity, sacrifice, love, and support for the less privileged during the festive season.
Ododo made the remarks while speaking with journalists shortly after observing the two Rakat Eid prayers at the Okene Eid praying ground in Kogi State.
He noted that Eid-el-Adha is not only a period of celebration but also a time for reflection on the virtues of compassion, peace, selflessness, and care for one another.
According to him, “Eid-el-Adha teaches sacrifice, love, peace, and care for one another.
“I urge the good people of Kogi State to continue to support the needy and pray for our nation.
Let’s also pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all our leaders for wisdom and divine guidance.”
The governor reiterated that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state, stressing that security requires the collective efforts of government, security agencies, and citizens.
“Security is a continuous task, and we won’t relent in ensuring the safety of lives and property in our state. I commend Mr. President, the security agencies, and the good people of Kogi State for their support and the credible intelligence they provide at all times,” he said.
Ododo assured residents that the state government would continue to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to sustain peace and stability in Kogi.
“By the special grace of God, we’ll continue to work together to keep Kogi safe and secure,” the governor added.
Speaking on the ongoing rebranding and renewed image campaign across the state, Ododo explained that the initiative is aimed at repositioning Kogi as a destination for investment, tourism, and economic growth.
“There’s no magic to it. You dress the way you want to be addressed. The image of our state depends largely on what we say about it,” he noted.
The governor described Kogi as a state blessed with abundant natural and human resources, especially in agriculture, solid minerals, culture, and tourism, stressing the need to project the state positively to attract investors and development partners.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in the fight against crime and criminality by refusing to harbor criminals within their communities.
Ododo further called for renewed hope, unity, and support for the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying nation-building requires collective sacrifice and commitment from all citizens.
The governor thanked God for preserving the lives of Nigerians to witness another Eid celebration and prayed for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Kogi State and the country at large.
