The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its ongoing crime-fighting operations, arresting suspected drug dealers and recovering large quantities of illicit substances during coordinated raids across the state.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer,SP Bright Edafe, the Command disclosed that the operations also helped foil a suspected kidnap plot while dismantling drug distribution networks.
According to the statement, on April 15, 2026, at about 10:23 p.m., Anti-Crime Patrol operatives of Otorerokpe Division raided a suspected drug hideout in Ugholo Community, leading to the arrest of a 33-year-old female suspect, Justina Onokpasa.
Items recovered during the operation included two large bags of weeds suspected to be Canadian Loud, 300 small cans of substances also suspected to be Canadian Loud, 30 bottles of CSC codeine, 10 sachets of tramadol, two sachets of ‘Super Royal’ (Redboy), 12 sachets of Swinol, 12 pieces of molly drugs, and 400 empty distribution cans. The suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue.
In a separate operation on April 16, 2026, at about 11:45 a.m., operatives of the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) raided suspected drug spots in Abraka, resulting in the arrest of three suspects.
During the raid, large quantities of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs were recovered. The suspects are also in custody pending further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining the crackdown on criminal activities and urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to support policing efforts across the state.
