…….Lawmakers Praise Chairman’s Commitment to Good Governance, Stronger Legislative Oversight.

Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, has taken another bold step to strengthen grassroots governance by presenting official vehicles to members of the Ikeja Legislative Council, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to legislative independence, effective oversight and quality service delivery.
The presentation of six official vehicles to principal officers of the Legislative Council is aimed at enhancing the lawmakers’ mobility and capacity to effectively perform their constitutional responsibilities of lawmaking, representation and oversight.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, AKOD said his administration remains committed to building strong democratic institutions by ensuring that every arm of government is adequately equipped to deliver on its mandate.
According to him, an efficient legislature is indispensable to transparent, accountable and people-oriented governance, stressing that the council’s oversight role is critical to sustaining development and ensuring prudent management of public resources.
“This administration believes that good governance thrives where institutions are strengthened and given the necessary support to function effectively. The legislature remains a vital partner in our collective mission to transform Ikeja and improve the welfare of our people,” he said.
The event, attended by political leaders, government officials and council staff, was marked by excitement as the beneficiaries received the official vehicles.
Those presented with the vehicles include the Leader of the House, Hon. Ogunseye Rasheed Adisa (Ward A); Deputy Leader, Hon. Shakirat Idowu Jinadu (Ward B); Majority Leader and Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Hon. Lawal Ganiu (Ward F); Chief Whip, Hon. Salami Idris Opeyemi (Ward D); Chairman, House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Folami Babatunde (Ward E); and Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Obadeyo Olayinka (Ward C).
In further demonstration of his commitment to improving administrative efficiency, AKOD also presented official vehicles to the Council Manager, Mrs. Odubeko Juliana Taiwo, and the Head of Finance, Mr. Ojikutu Oluwadebowale, to facilitate smoother operations and enhance public service delivery.
Responding on behalf of the legislators, the Leader of the House, Hon. Ogunseye Rasheed Adisa, expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Chairman, describing the gesture as a clear demonstration of AKOD’s respect for the legislature and unwavering commitment to democratic governance.
He noted that the vehicles would greatly improve the lawmakers’ effectiveness in carrying out oversight visits, constituency engagements and other legislative assignments, thereby bringing governance closer to the people.
Adisa further assured the Chairman of the Legislative Council’s continued cooperation with the executive arm, emphasizing that both arms of government would continue to work in harmony to deliver impactful projects and programmes that would improve the lives of Ikeja residents.
The presentation of the vehicles further underscores the AKOD administration’s people-centred approach to governance and its determination to strengthen institutions, promote accountability and provide the necessary support for efficient governance at the grassroots.
