The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has unveiled plans to improve security, environmental sanitation, road infrastructure and other essential services in Computer Village, Lagos.
Comrade AKOD disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting with plaza owners and business operators in Computer Village, where he engaged them on revenue generation, security, sanitation and improved service delivery. 
The chairman explained that revenues paid by businesses are public funds and assured stakeholders that the council would deploy such resources responsibly to improve the lives of residents and create a more conducive environment for businesses.
“It is not personal money. It is the money that all of us will benefit from at the end of the day,” AKOD said.
He noted that Computer Village, being a major commercial and technology hub, requires a revenue system that reflects the peculiar nature of the area and its businesses.
Dauda assured plaza owners and operators that the council would continue to engage with them to ensure fairness in revenue assessment, proper classification of businesses and accurate records.
He also called on plaza owners to provide updated records of current occupants and businesses operating within their premises, saying this would help the council eliminate outdated information and improve the accuracy of revenue assessment.
On security, AKOD urged business owners, traders and other stakeholders to see the protection of lives and property as a collective responsibility.
According to him, insecurity has a direct impact on commercial activities as it can discourage customers and reduce the volume of economic activities in the area.
The chairman further disclosed that the administration was working to channel revenue into critical areas, including security, environmental sanitation, roads, healthcare and other community services.
He assured stakeholders that the local government would continue to listen to their concerns and work with them as partners in progress.
Daudexpressed optimism that sustained collaboration between the council and Computer Village stakeholders would help restore the area’s old glory while making it safer, cleaner and more conducive for businesses to thrive.
