Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area, has celebrated ten retired staff members with a cash gift of ₦250,000 each in recognition of their years of dedicated service.
The presentation took place during a special ceremony organised to honour employees who have completed their mandatory years in service.
Investigator news reports that the event underscored the council’s commitment to appreciating those who have contributed to its growth and development.
The retirees expressed heartfelt gratitude for the gesture, describing it as a meaningful recognition of their sacrifices and dedication. Speaking at the event, Hon. Kareem noted that the progress recorded in Oto-Awori LCDA today is built on the foundation laid by these retirees, stressing that their service deserves to be celebrated and remembered.
Council Manager, Mrs. Whenu Olamide, and the Head of Human Resources, Mrs. Giwanson Darajat, commended the Chairman for sustaining a culture of respect and appreciation for staff, both during active service and after retirement.
They highlighted that the initiative reflects the administration’s continued focus on staff welfare and dignity.
Also speaking, Mr. Ogunshakin from the Local Government Civil Service Commission praised the initiative, noting that such recognition sets a commendable example for other councils and reinforces the values of dedication and integrity within the civil service.
The ceremony served as a fitting send-off, reinforcing the message that service and commitment to the community remain valued long after retirement, while also promoting unity and mutual respect within Oto-Awori LCDA.
