Governor Nyesom Wike is expected to be named the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Vice Presidential Candidate for 2023.
Wike was reportedly chosen as the running mate for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The decision was made following a closed-door meeting held on Tuesday by a committee formed to oversee the selection process.
Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, was also considered for the position, but Wike was chosen by several high-ranking members of the party.
After finishing second in the party’s presidential primaries, the Rivers state governor made headlines.

It was widely assumed that he would have won the election had it not been for fellow aspirant and Sokoto state governor Aminu Tambuwal’s decision to step down in favour of Atiku.

There will be more to come.
