Ejigbo, Lagos –In a determined effort to sustain environmental cleanliness and promote public health, the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT), has intensified the ongoing campaign against indiscriminate waste disposal with another round of comprehensive waste evacuation and environmental sanitation exercise across the council area.
The operation, carried out on Monday through the Office of the Supervisor for Environment and the Environmental Department of Ejigbo LCDA, focused on the removal of refuse illegally dumped along major highways, inner roads, drainage channels, road medians, and other unauthorized locations.
The exercise forms part of the Chairman’s broader environmental transformation agenda aimed at restoring cleanliness, preserving public infrastructure, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the community, and creating a healthier environment for residents and businesses.
Council officials noted that the latest intervention is a continuation of the administration’s sustained environmental management strategy, which has witnessed regular sanitation exercises, drainage clearing operations, public enlightenment campaigns, and strict enforcement of environmental regulations.
According to the council, the persistent removal of illegally dumped waste is necessary to prevent flooding, eliminate environmental hazards, curb the spread of diseases, and ensure the free flow of drainage systems, especially as the rainy season progresses.
The administration emphasized that environmental cleanliness remains a shared responsibility and called on residents, traders, transport operators, artisans, and business owners to support government efforts by utilizing approved waste disposal channels and refraining from dumping refuse on roadsides and in drainage channels.
