The Rotary Club of Isolo and Rotary Club of Okota, under Rotary District 9111, in partnership with the Indo Eye Care Foundation, have concluded plans to fight cataract-induced blindness through a Free Cataract Surgery Outreach for residents of Lagos and Ogun States.
The outreach, themed “Restore Sight, Renew Hope! A Clearer Tomorrow Begins With Better Vision,” is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 24th October 2026, at 15, Ganiyu Sogunle Street, Ire-Akari Estate, Isolo, Lagos, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Investigator news reports that the medical mission is aimed at addressing the growing cases of avoidable blindness caused by cataract, particularly among the elderly and low-income earners who cannot afford the cost of surgery.
According to the organizers, beneficiaries will enjoy free comprehensive medical consultation, free cataract screening and assessment, and access to free surgery for those confirmed to require it.
They described cataract as a silent thief of sight that has rendered many people unproductive and dependent, stressing that restoring vision is restoring life, dignity and hope.
“This is not just about eyes, it is about giving people back their independence, their livelihood and their future. For many, this surgery will mean a return to work, to school, to family life,” the coordinators said.
Investigator news gathered that residents of Isolo, Okota and surrounding communities, especially those experiencing blurred vision, eye discomfort and poor eyesight, have been urged to attend the screening early.
The clubs assured that qualified eye specialists will be on ground to attend to participants professionally and compassionately.
