…Oojon of Ejigbo, Traditional Leaders Praised For Upholding Yoruba Traditions.

Ejigbo, Lagos— The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT), has felicitated with traditional institutions, cultural custodians and residents of Ejigbo on the celebration of Isese Day 2026, describing the festival as a reflection of the people’s identity and pride.
In a goodwill message on Wednesday issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Comrade Onadeako,Aare TAT said Isese Day goes beyond celebration to serve as a reminder of the community’s roots, values and responsibility to preserve Yoruba traditions for future generations.
“Ìṣẹ̀ṣe is more than a celebration; it is a reflection of who we are, where we come from and the values that bind us together. It reminds us of the importance of preserving our language, traditions, customs and communal values for generations yet unborn,” he stated.
The Chairman specially acknowledged the role of the Oojon of Ejigbo and Ijon Land,His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Morufu Adisa Adekunke Ojoola, JP, his chiefs, and other traditional leaders in promoting and safeguarding the cultural heritage of Ejigbo.
He noted that their continued commitment has ensured that the customs and beliefs of the people remain relevant and respected in modern society.
“I specially acknowledge His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Morufu Adisa Adekunke Ojoola, JP, the Oojon of Ejigbo and Ijon Land, his Chiefs, traditional leaders and all Ìṣẹ̀ṣe adherents for their continued role in preserving and promoting our rich cultural heritage,”Aare TAT said.
In a related development, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Alhaji Rahman Olaseni Taiwo, on behalf of the Chairman,formally received a delegation of Ìsèse Traditionalists at the council secretariat.
The courtesy engagement provided an avenue for meaningful interaction between the Council administration and representatives of the indigenous traditional community, with emphasis on cultural heritage, peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and community development.
Welcoming the delegation, Alhaji Rahman conveyed the government’s appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the important role of cultural stakeholders in preserving indigenous heritage and values.
He assured the delegation that the administration of Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo remains committed to inclusive governance, stakeholder engagement and the promotion of peace and unity across Ejigbo LCDA.
The Chief of Staff further encouraged the Ìsèse Traditionalists to continue promoting the positive values of Yoruba heritage while contributing meaningfully to the peace, progress and development of the Council Area.
The delegation expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman for his infrastructural strides across Ejigbo LCDA, while reaffirming their commitment to peaceful coexistence and constructive partnership with the Council administration.
The council boss urged residents to use the occasion to strengthen unity, peace and mutual respect among the diverse communities in Ejigbo LCDA.
“As we celebrate, let us remain united, peaceful and respectful of one another, while embracing the richness of our cultural identity,” he added.
He expressed optimism that Isese Day would continue to deepen the sense of belonging among the people and inspire greater commitment to building a peaceful and prosperous Ejigbo.
“May Ìṣẹ̀ṣe continue to strengthen our sense of belonging and inspire a greater commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous and progressive Ejigbo,” TAT prayed.
It will be recalled that Isese Day, officially recognized by the Lagos State Government as August 20, is celebrated annually to honor Yoruba culture, traditions, and indigenous religious practices.
