The Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Dr. Seyi Jakande, is set to mark his first year in office with a N500 million Mega Empowerment Programme designed to improve the economic wellbeing of residents and create sustainable opportunities across the council area.
The landmark programme, scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA Council premises, is expected to bring together residents, community leaders, stakeholders, beneficiaries and other dignitaries as the administration celebrates its first anniversary.
Investigator news reports that a major highlight of the programme is the unveiling of the ILE OWO Interest-Free Loan Scheme, targeted at residents of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye.
The initiative is expected to provide financial assistance to residents and small businesses, enabling them to strengthen their enterprises, expand their economic activities and improve their livelihoods.
The anniversary programme will also feature the graduation and empowerment of more than 600 trainees who have acquired vocational and ICT skills.
The beneficiaries are expected to receive support that will enable them to put their newly acquired skills into productive use and become more economically independent.
As part of the administration’s employment and community-support initiatives, 302 street assistants will also be inaugurated across the LCDA.
The initiative is expected to create employment opportunities while supporting grassroots operations and community development.
Another major empowerment component is the provision of nine commercial buses to qualified residents to support sustainable livelihoods.
The transportation initiative is expected to provide beneficiaries with a reliable means of income generation while contributing to economic activities within the council area.
In the healthcare sector, the administration will commission the Kayode Primary Healthcare Centre, a development expected to strengthen access to primary healthcare services and bring essential medical services closer to residents.
The anniversary celebration will also witness the commissioning of newly completed road and drainage infrastructure projects.
With the latest projects, the total number of completed road and drainage projects under the administration stands at 18, according to the council’s anniversary programme.
The administration will further distribute empowerment grants to residents and small businesses, reinforcing its focus on supporting entrepreneurs and vulnerable residents while promoting grassroots economic development.
The N500 million Mega Empowerment Programme therefore combines financial support, skills development, employment opportunities, transportation, healthcare and infrastructure development in an integrated approach to improving the quality of life of residents.
The initiatives lined up for the celebration demonstrate the administration’s stated focus on empowering residents with practical opportunities and resources that can translate into sustainable livelihoods.
With the unveiling of the N500 million empowerment package and the ILE OWO Interest-Free Loan Scheme, residents are expected to benefit from a new wave of economic interventions as the LCDA marks one year of the Jakande administration.
