Ejigbo,Lagos–Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commenced the first round of the 2026 Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health Plus Nutrition (MNCAH+N) Week, rolling out a wide range of free healthcare services aimed at improving the health and well-being of mothers, newborns, children and adolescents across the council area.
The health campaign, organised in collaboration with the Lagos State Health District VI and the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, underscores the council’s commitment to promoting quality and accessible healthcare at the grassroots.
The initiative, championed by the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, offers residents free antenatal care, family planning services, deworming, Vitamin A supplementation, nutrition screening and other essential maternal and child healthcare interventions.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, the Chairperson of Ejigbo LCDA, Mrs. Modupe Aishat Taiwo, called on pregnant women, nursing mothers, parents and caregivers to make full use of the exercise by visiting any of the designated Primary Health Care Centres and temporary service posts within the council.
She described the programme as a vital public health intervention that will contribute significantly to reducing maternal and child mortality, preventing malnutrition and ensuring healthier families in Ejigbo.
Mrs. Taiwo reaffirmed the council’s commitment to supporting initiatives that improve access to affordable and quality healthcare, while commending the Lagos State Government, Health District VI and the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board for their sustained partnership in advancing primary healthcare delivery.
Also present at the event were the Vice Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Mrs. Abimbola Nicholas Ike; the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Yemisi Otuyemi; the Supervisor for Health, Hon. Kasumu Saheed; councillors, supervisors, the Medical Director of the council, Dr. Ibrahim Yetunde O., and other healthcare officials and stakeholders.
The first round of the 2026 MNCAH+N Week will run from July 20 to July 24, 2026, with free healthcare services available at all Primary Health Care Centres and designated temporary posts across Ejigbo LCDA.
Residents, particularly expectant mothers, nursing mothers, parents and caregivers, have been encouraged to take advantage of the programme to access the free medical services and contribute to building a healthier community.
